Giovanni Taylor, involuntarily known as “Gio”, was conceived, developed and brainwashed in the United States. Versatility is his trademark; writer, producer, scratch musician/turntable-ist, and drummer extraordinaire he is well known and highly respected in the underground hip hop/scratch world.

While the Space Needle just stood there, Gio was working triple overtime as a producer/slash/deejay/emcee for his band “Prose and Concepts.” The group put out two albums before disbanding after a member’s untimely passing. In addition to rockin’ over a hundred shows, Gio Taylor (as DJ ACE) won nearly every local turntable competition, SMASHing his foes!

In 2004, Gio bounced to Los Angeles, by this time he had become the drummer for the avant-garde turntable-based band, “Gunkhole.” This highly creative and improvisational ensemble was formed around the legendary scratch musician, “D-Styles”, formerly of the world-renowned “Invisibl Skratch Piklz.” In the spring of ’04, Gunkhole toured all around Europe, including Paris, Athens, and Madrid.

Under his many incarnations, Gio has shared the stage with the likes of Roots, Pearl Jam, Pharcyde, Kid Sensation, D’Angelo, X-ecutioners and MF Doom to name a few.

Most recently Gio has been locked-up…….in his home studio writing and producing some impressive beats…….which will soon be available to be heard and enjoyed by all!!
